Tsukihime – Fool’s Errand

Introduction

A few months after the end of Tsukihime, life at the Tohno mansion has more or less returned to normal. Akiha is busy with school and managing the Tohno estate, Ciel gives Shiki regular after-school lessons to help him catch up on everything he missed, Hisui is ever happy to await Shiki-sama at the front door, Kohaku is as cheerful and crazy as ever and Arcueid has finally gotten firmly in touch with her feline side. Surely, things can’t go on like this for long…

Project information

Tsukihime – Fool’s Errand was released as a 2009 April Fools joke, making good on the promise of April Fools 2008 to release Tsukihime 2 within a year’s time. It is a fan-parody using the alternative (G666) Neko Arc Chaos route in MBAC as a base, featuring Shiki, Ciel, Satsuki and both Neko Arcs in the leading roles. The story takes between 30 and 90 minutes to read through, depending on text display speed.

Work on this project was started in September 2008, beginning with the writing of a story outline. This was supposed to take a month, but ended up taking three due to lack of inspiration (read: laziness). When the Christmas holidays began it became clear that there wasn’t a lot of time left, so with the ouline finished work on the actual script began.
Around this time most of the photographs for the backgrounds were taken, on location in Taiwan. On the 20th of February the first pass of the script was finished, after which work continued with game programming and image editing. From this point on things kept accelerating, culminating in five 16-hour days of hell to get everything finished on time… Nothing gets you to work like a hard deadline.
