I figure I can keep this one updated and stop having to make a bunch of new posts.
Translation: 100%
Proofing: 100%
Editing Pics: 100%
Installer: Vista Testing Remains
Font tweaking remains
Making sure the game just doesn't crash all the time remains (but this is mostly all done)
Updates:
8 Nov
It's hard to update percentages on pics since I'm not the one doing them. However, the image editors we brought on board work pretty quickly and I'm pleased with what I've seen so far! So don't worry, progress IS being made and made well.
12 Nov
Edit status only what I've confirmed as working in the game (could be higher).
29 Nov
All we need now is an installer and we're set. Probably not going to have a beta stage...
07 Jan 08
Added some updates to installer status.

It seems like every time I find and watch an anime I really like that turns out to be some sort of visual novel or game, you guys are in the midst of translating. I think lady luck has a thing for me...hmm hope shes hot.
You guys work so hard and I want to say I appreciate all the work, which only real reward is the satisfaction of completion. It takes real commitment and dedication to do what you do that too few have these days. I'm really looking forward to the final release from modern day heroes. Hm...too flattering? XD Hope not.

It's a race to the finish. Utawarerumono vs. Unlimited Blade Works. Which patch will be completed first!?!?!?
...Well, maybe it's not as serious as that.

My money would still be on UBW. There's a few pics to translate, and all the post-patch testing that needs to be done.

Yeah, UBW would come up first. Testings would take awhile... But picture-wise, i donno... Depends on how much needs editing.
But then again, personally, im expecting Utawarerumono more than UBW. *Prepares for the shot to the head*
UBW is still only just one path to look forward to. While Utawarerumono is a whole new game. And after the few clips i've seen, I cant wait to stroke Ururuu's tail... Hehehehe... *Drools*
PS.
A Question to Ryuu and all others who have watched the anime:
~I've just got the entire Utawarerumono series on DVD. What should i do? Wait for the patch to come out THEN watch the series, or watch the series FIRST? Would there be any 'Spoilers' if i watch the anime first?

>Inferno technically since the game is a linear storyline it is relatively the same through both, just the game adds the strategy battles to it. Basically if you watch the anime first you will know whats going to happen and a good degree of the main story. Then if you go back to play the game you will be adding the battles and the hentai which should be enough to keep things interesting along with some extra flushing out of characters and story.
I don't think it would exactly spoil the enjoyment of the game for you, it's one story told in two different ways. You get something different when you watch it in anime, and something different when you see it in a visual novel/game form.

@inferno_flamex the anime for utawarerumono is awesome its pretty much the reason why i found out about the game but the anime is a little rushed towards the end. Obviously if u watch the anime it will spoil the main game story for you its like watching fate before playing the fate storyline in fsn. So it all depends on whether you want to spoil the main story before playing or not. I personally found that i want to play the game even more now but thats just me ...

>inferno_flamex
On the other hand the games tend to be more indept than the animes, so id put it up like do you want to read the book before watching the movie? (usually the answer should be no)
Yes watching the anime will show you the main story but on the other hand youll properbly enjoy it...
The Game can still be enjoyable even if you know the basis of the story as the game properbly is alot more detailed and gives more infomation ^^
In the end itll be up to you

I saw the anime first and then listened to the radio show, which was purely awesome. It had a few Utawarerumono themes, but was more about the real life personalities in the cast of Utawarerumono. The main cast was Yuzuki Ryouka (Eruruw) and Koyama Rikiya (Hakuoro) with periodic guest appearances by other cast members. Their chemistry is awesome, primarily due to the fact that Yuzuki Ryouka is head over heels for Koyama Rikiya in real life. It was a sad day when the radio show ended after a year.
Anyway, I succumbed to marketing and bought the game much later and still enjoyed it greatly. I enjoyed it so much that it drove me to translate it, if that says anything.
Either way, I think both will be enjoyed regardless of the order.
We are considering doing a "text only" patch release, similar to the original patch by Soylations that contained up until the first battle. Of course, this time it would have the whole story translated. Probably won't be too far off if that is the case.

Wow. So many replies..
Thanks to BW, Drizzt, SoulBringer and Ryuusoul for your input on this guys!
From what i heard, either way... Its something i should look forward to. So i decided to go with the "in order" version... In this case, the game then the anime.
As that's the order of how (or when) the 2 were realeased. Sounds fair enuff for me. XD
Once again thanks to BW, Drizzt and SoulBringer..
And Especially Ryuu for taking the time from his busy schedule to even tell us about the radio show! Seriously i dont even know they existed.. lol

Hm. I might recommend watching the anime first. Sure, it may spoil the game, but playing the game afterwards will give you the full story whereas the anime was forced to abbreviate some things or leave out some things entirely. That being said, the anime was still good.
Watching the anime after playing the game might give people over expectation of what will be included in the anime (Tsukihime / Fate/stay night syndrome) and "ruin" the person's experience of an otherwise perfectly good anime. Playing the game after watching the anime might be more fulfilling because it fills out everything and answers questions unresolved from the show.
Just a little more of my two cents.

I didn't get too much testing done, but on the bright side, me and phiber (more like phiber, I just tested stuff) got the picture extraction problem solved now.
I have about 4 image editors asking to help, so we will have to see. Hopefully they can all combine efforts to get that done quickly.
While proofing, I have been playing with the text inserted, so most if not all of that should hopefully be squared away (once I get done).

Everyone involved in this project and even the fans; I give my thanks ;)
I think this will be a fun game. More than half of the game being the VN style we love (storyyy!!), and the other half being tactical battles that bring back memories of Final Fantasy Tactics...

Yep we are all going through those pre-release anxiety, some of us checking the site every hour for updates...others pacing their room as their old video games no longer give that same feeling of fun. I feel bad for Message though, isn't he building the installers for both Utawarerumono and FSN? That's got to be a huge amount of work, I really admire his dedication.

It may only work with the DVD version. We will see about getting support for the CD versions later, but there are some extra things in the DVD version that don't have counterparts in the CD versions... we will just have to see how it affects things.

Well I would think the game itself would still be intact through both versions, so although it is only an assumption...It should still work on the game itself, though it might leave some untranslated parts. Honestly since I have no technical knowledge on the subject, I can't be sure...so as Ryuusoul says, we will have to wait and see.

Well honestly most of the work is on Message right now so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes awhile, since he is working on two games at once...unless of course he chooses to finish one then move on to the other. Either way just being this close to release makes me happy, I will wait as long as it takes.

You know, sometimes it's really torture to have so detailed status reports. If you don't know what's up at all with a project you also have zero expectations. When the project is ready it's a nice surprise then.
If you know that it's so close to completion however it gets you to check the site 5 times a day, everytime feeling a bit disappointed.
I didn't know one person has both UBW and Uta now... makes me kind of sad since I'd guess UBW will get the most attention. Personally I don't care for the FS/N patch until all routes are done and I can play the game from start to finish completely.
Good luck with the project and please don't take my comments negatively in any way. We waited so long already, a few days or weeks more won't hurt anyone now.

Well as far as I know, Message is the only one who works on the installers for the translations, but I don't think any of their work has ever gone as parallel like this...though I could be wrong.
I wouldn't doubt it if UBW was finished first (considering the status for it indicates the development of the installer). So yes it's a good attitude to be able to wait for awhile, because we might be. The only good thing is if they cancel the beta stage we will get the release faster.
